Loneliness is real.
No one understands me.
How can we be surrounded by people and be socially well-connected, yet feel so lonely and disconnected?
What is causing loneliness?
Major life changes – disease, death, or divorce – cause a deep sense loneliness. The massive disruption in financial stability, the challenges to friendships and family relationships, and shattered hopes and dreams for the future become a new reality. Our focus is overcoming loneliness after divorce.
How do we overcome loneliness?
Our journey is unique, beautiful, and powerful and comes with a huge responsibility. The really great times and the extremely tough times are humbling. This process equips us with skills to overcome and to help others. Challenge yourself to always celebrate others and recognize what they’ve done to survive and thrive. As friends find their way to move on after divorce while you are still feeling stuck, celebrate them. Your time is coming! Fight the urge to fall into the traps of jealousy, depression, and loneliness, and focus on the joy of what’s coming your way. Let your friends be the inspiration. Invite their positivity into your own life.

Music lifts the soul and makes the heart dance.
Connect deeply with yourself through inspiring music. When I am reading or writing, I typically turn on classical music. When I am walking or jogging, I love connecting spiritually with my chosen favorites for the month through my Spotify Channel, and when I’m cleaning, a little 80s Hair Bands does the trick! Perhaps those are not your choices; intentionally choose ways to lift your spirit during the most mundane moments of the day.
